George Clooney e namorada sofrem acidente de moto nos EUA

O actor americano George Clooney fracturou uma costela quando a moto que pilotava, com a namorada Sarah Larson, foi derrubada por um carro neste sábado, 22, em Nova Jersey. Ambos foram socorridos e levados para o centro médico de Palisades e já tiveram alta, disse o policia Stan Rosenfield. Clooney, de 46 anos, sofreu uma fissura em uma das costelas e vários arranhões, enquanto Larson partiu um pé. Apesar do acidente, Clooney assistirá na segunda-feira à estréia em Nova York de seu novo filme, "Michael Clayton". O acidente ocorreu quando Clooney desfrutava de um dia de folga das filmagens de "Burn After Reading", que está sendo rodadp em Nova York, no qual actua junto com Brad Pitt, John Malkovich e Frances McDormand.

Salma Hayek dá à luz uma menina

Salma Hayek é a mais nova mamãe do pedaço. A atriz mexicana deu à luz uma menina nesta sexta-feira, 22. O bebê é fruto do seu relacionamento com o empresário Francois-Henri Pinault, chefe-executivo do conglomerado de empresas PPR, que trabalha com as marcas Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga e Stella McCartney.

“Mãe e filha passam bem”, resumiu Cari Ross, representante da atriz, num comunicado. Outros detalhes sobre o parto não foram revelados. Fontes da revista “People” revelaram que a atriz deu entrada no hospital na quinta-feira, 21, e que Pinault também estava presente. A menina, que será batizada de Valentina Paloma Pinault, é a primeira filha de Hayek e a terceira de Francois, divorciado desde o fim de seu casamento em 2004.

Salma Hayek e Francois-Henri Pinault estão noivos desde que descobriram a gravidez da atriz, em fevereiro, e pretendem se casar até o fim do ano, provavelmente em dezembro, quando o filho já estiver um pouquinho maior. Numa entrevista em que confirmou sua gravidez, Salma Hayek declarou que as mulheres não deviam ter pressa para ter filhos e discutiu sobre as cobranças da sociedade em relação à maternidade e ao visual feminino. “A sociedade pensa que se você não tem filhos, você falhou como mulher. Você tem que ser linda, inteligente, magra, alta, rica, bem-sucedida no trabalho, casar com o cara certo e ter filhos gênios", desabafou a atriz.

O Fiasco de Britney nos VMA's

After weeks of buzz, Britney Spears kicked off Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards at the Palms in Las Vegas in a sparkly bra and briefs with a club-ready performance of her latest song "Gimme More."

The singer, who reportedly worked with illusionist Criss Angel on the act, lip-synched to the song as women cavorted on stripper poles amid a flashy red background. The song comes in advance of Spears' as-yet-untitled record due in stores Nov. 13.

The pop star has a history of dramatic performances at the VMAs – including kissing Madonna and dancing with a live snake – but this year's performance seemed more low-key and certainly less eye-popping.

And at least one review was in almost immediately. Following Spears's performance, comedian Sarah Silverman offered her sarcastic take. "Was that incredible? Britney Spears, everyone," Silverman said. "Wow. She is amazing. She is 25-years-old and she's already accomplished everything she's going to accomplish in her life. It's mind blowing."

Later, backstage hip-hop star Akon offered his reaction to Spears's performance, telling PEOPLE: "That could have been better. She needed to focus more. She looked nervous and I think the pressure got to her." Similarly, Common told PEOPLE about Spears: "I think it didn't seem like she wanted to be there. There wasn't any spark, it didn't feel like life was there." Before the show, many artists weighed in on Spears's comeback.

During MTV's official pre-show, Mary J. Blige wished the beleaguered pop star all the best. "I absolutely think Britney could make the comeback," Blige said on the telecast. "Someone who's been through as much as she's been through – you just want her to win. I know I want her to win."
