Bruni-Sarkozy's State Visit

For her inaugural state visit to London as the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy arrived at Heathrow top-to-toe in Christian Dior. In keeping with her husband Nicholas Sarkozy's political intentions in the UK, her choice of outfits during the visit - all by British designer John Galliano for French fashion house Dior - were a symbol of the union between the two countries.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, in a grey coat and pillbox hat by Christian Dior, stepped off the plane at Heathrow with husband Nicholas Sarkozy, President of France.

The ex-supermodel, a feature on the YSL, Chanel and Versace catwalks in the Nineties, met with John Galliano several times over the last few months to work on the state visit wardrobe.
For lunch at Windsor Castle, Bruni-Sarkozy changed into a layered grey ribbed suit and the latest handbag by Dior, The Babe. For the evening, a midnight blue chiffon Dior ballgown and matching stole, designed by Galliano, were teamed with platinum, diamond and blue sapphire earrings and a matching necklace from Chaumet's Frise Collection.
