Jon Stewart to Host This Year's Oscars

Emmy-winning Daily Show anchor Jon Stewart has a new gig: host of the 78th Annual Academy Awards on March 5, it will be announced Wednesday, according to the Los Angeles Times. The paper reports that Stewart, 43, secured the deal right before Christmas. The funnyman hosted the Grammy Awards in 2001 and 2002, and his selection by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences follows reports in recent weeks that last year's host, Chris Rock, was not being asked back (at least not in 2006) and that veteran host Billy Crystal refused the Academy's offer to return. Stewart is hardly a movie name, however. His big-screen credits include the little-seen Death to Smoochy and Half Baked. On the other hand, he is considered one of TV's hottest acts. In preparation for Hollywood's biggest night, Stewart is likely to take a week off from his satiric Comedy Central news show and he'll be using many of his Daily Show writers, says the Times. The Oscars will be broadcast on ABC. Last year, an average of 42.1 million viewers tuned in to the ceremony, down 3 percent from 2003, according to Nielsen Media Research.

"It's wonderful to be working with L’Oréal, a company that has celebrated independent women for years," says Scarlett. "I'm very excited to be part of this campaign, which is modern and fashion forward." The Match Point star, who is thought to have made $1 million-a-year through the cK contract, is estimated by industry sources to have been wooed by a $3 million-a-year deal this time around, according to WWD. HIP is expected to generate sales of $50 million in its first year and Johansson's contract will likely include the promotion of further make-up and haircare products in the future. Spielberg filma clássico da Disney

Steven Spielberg vai produzir o clássico filme Mary Poppins, de Walt Disney, para aproveitar o sucesso da obra homônima, que está sendo representada em Londres com as mesmas canções originais escritas pelos irmãos Richard M. e Robert B. Sherman.
O filme será dirigido por Richard Eyre, o mesmo diretor da peça teatral e um dos mais reconhecidos diretores britânicos.
"Vai ser difícil superar o filme de 1964, protagonizado por Julie Andrews, mas a história é muito querida pelos jovens. Então, espero realmente que seja um sucesso", explicou Eyre à imprensa inglesa.
